 Kudus and Bangkalan

            Kudus and Bangkalan are city which have own different characteristic for inhabitant or people who occupy. The characteristic is involved to city which has characteristic. Considering, the characteristic indicates the difference between city and other cities, both geographical, location, culture, language and so on. All of those which involve becoming symbol that these cities have special characteristic and difference with the other such as two cities which I mainly elaborate them. Concerning, Kudus city is known as famous religious city and Bangkalan is known as infertile land and located in the middle of island while the direction of each city is generally so far.

            Region both Kudus and Bangkalan is also different. If Kudus is not broad, so this matter is really different with Bangkalan city which has broad location. The biggest thing in Kudus city is low mainland, because in north Kudus is mountain that is known as Muria Mountain. While Bangkalan is located in west island of Madura but it is still border on Java sea. Bangkalan city has 18 regencies and 273 villages, while Kudus has 9 regencies and 123 villages. Concerning, this comparison can be identified that Bangkalan is broader than kudus city.

            Every city has a culture and it is surely different with other city such as Kudus and Bangkalan which have different culture. Kudus holds tradition know as “Dandangan” this tradition is usually hold toward fasting month. Dandangan is like night market, but it is more interested because it has different nuance and held for about two weeks before fasting mount. The location is located near with Kudus mosque until banyan tree in Jl. Menara Kudus. In other hand, kudus town square is most interested also. It is proud from visitors who are crowded either from kudus itself or tourist. Yet Dandangan is completed with entertainment which is still recognizing traditional, which in Bangkalan has traditional which is done by fisherman and farmer. This tradition is society traditional ceremony as means to communicate or connect with mysterious creature from other world. This tradition is known “ sundhur panthel” because it is believed by society to hopefully get rain, destroy disease, and disaster. This ceremony is usually don’t together with Madura, traditional dance and completed with singing music. So it is clear that culture in each city has different one another because the different is recognize as the characteristic of each city.

            Special food is also become the difference between city and others city. Every city has own special food the difference is taste, flavor, curve, texture and so on. Like in Kudus city, this city has special food that is Kudus soup. Kudus soup is different with other soup philosophically. Although Bangkalan has also soup, but the taste is different. The different of Kudus soup and other soup is because added turmeric and ginger. This matter can identified from soup gravity itself which make society delight to make it is that kaldu kokot, this is a kind of soup which contains not only gravy but also meat , but vegetable which is combined with spices of an animal ( daging kikil). Foot broth (kaldu kikil) it is because one of special food and unique thing in Bangkalan. It is mostly like very much by all societies from adult until the oldest one because it is know having more nutrients because combined with fresh vegetable. This special food is spreaded in each city, including kudus and Bangkalan also have and how the special characteristic.

            This essay is mainly my first work, so I hopefully recognize that readers can get and know all of the differences between Kudus and Bangkalan city. Nowadays, many people have not known yet. Completely, it is about the unique things in tradition every region either the culture, social life, and so on. However, I greatly hope that both Kudus and Bangkalan city can get better situation prosperously, and it is not only government city holds this roles but also society can socially keep and preserve every tradition and culture.
