A.    Renaissance period (1550-1620)

Renaissance period is called Elizabethan period. Usually called as the Golden age because of England was back from the Dark age  which society thought too narrow. They just know about where region they live. The consideration, culture are limited because of the role of church too force. Renaissance is a culture action has been influenced intellectual life in Europe. It has begun  at the modern period. It has spread from Italy, and a lot of region in Europe at 16 century widely. The influenced of renaissance gotten such as politics, art, region, literature, religion, science, language and another aspect. Elizabeth could solve problem such as civital war, peace with scotlandia, and society could bring their religion, etc. In 1559 agent of parlement is not allowed by Paus in England. The most of agent of church was monarki kingdom, book of common prayer was allowed.

Renaissance used humanist method in research fof bring to life and increased school based on classical lesson and philosophy. The renaissance event stressed Greek and Rome society are educated, cultured and creative. Therefrom, Englad realised to life again for develope theirselves  as human.At the time, literature developed and increased quickly supported by Elizabeth loving music, dance, and things related about art included literature creation. The literature effloresced widely were poem, verse and etc. The popular literature in this period wsas drama. Drama was consisted of thinking, feeling, deed in a creation.

·         Thomas Wyatt (1505-1542)

He is a poet of literaly introduct about sonet

·         Earl of Surrey (1517-1547)

He is a poet, he introduct about distinguish of verse from poem and provide of literature verse. The verse contain about narrative of middle period and lotalty

·         Sr. Philip Sidney(1554-1586)

He was from England and studied in Shrewbery school. He continued his study in Oxford and live in abroad. The popular creation from Sr. Philip is “The Acardia” romantic type. It was showed to the Lady penelope Devereux and Lady Rich. Another creation is a poem, the tittle is “Heart Exchange”

·         Edmun Spenser(1552-1599)

He was born in London. He studied in Pembroke College, in Cambridge. He got a magister in 1576 and provided his carrier to the Earl of Leceicester. The popular creation is “The(spenserian stanza) Faery Queen”. It is the longer verse of literature.

·         Earl of Essex

He was a poet. The creation is “To pleat my faith”

·         Sr. Walter Raleigh

He was a poet of poem. The popular creation under the tittle is ”To Queen Elizabeth”

·         Christoper Marlow(1546-1593)

He was from poor family in Caterbury. He studied in The Town Grammar School and in Cambridge. The famous creation is “The tragic of Dr. Faustus” he was one of student expert supported by devil.

·         Jhon Lyly (1554-1606)

He was a poet. The popular cretion is “ Eupeus the anatomy of wit and his Englad”. It is about romantic type. It contain feeling, attitide, and moral.

·         William Shakespeare

He was a popular artistic in Elizabeth period. His creation made Englad as famous literature in the world. The creation is Drama. The first drama are “Hamlet” and “Machbet”

C.     The general characteristic in Elizabeth period

·         Literature is influenced dominance by church

·         The development intellectual and freedom

·         Norm of humanism more increase widely

D.    The literature characteristic in Elizabeth periode

·         Learning the sciences/knowledge developly by Greek and Rome old give influence  to the literature in renaissance about tolerance of religion

·         The structural grammar England more simply and use language to inform their thinking.

·         Producing a number of litature such as poem, prosa, verse, and so on.

·         The popular literature work in the world is drama. They are Hamlet and Machbet, It is created by William shakespeare

·         Thare are two design appear in literature of drama. They are comedy and tragedy. The end of comedy is about happines and the end of tragedy is about death and sadness full.

Shakespeare and The Drama

A. Shakepeare’s life

            William shakespeare was born in 1564 at startford, aa market town on the river. Avon in warwickshirre. Eduation at starford school was based on latin grammar, rhetoric and composition; to speak english was forbidden in the upper forms. He left school probably at 15, and 18 married  anne hathaway, eight years his senior . at the time of the church wedding she was expecting a child, born in 1583 and christened susanna. In 1585 Anne had twins, Hamnet and judith. In 1681 an actor whose father had known shakespeare told jhon aubrey that shakespeare “ had been in his younger years a schoolmaster in the country”. He is a famous writer in his era, writing the drama of tragedy, comedy , history , 154 soneta anf the naratif poem. And also shakespears learn about the work from writer and philosopher from Greek in the past. Elizabeth govern  of english almost sakespears’s life in the rainansans era. William shakespears may have had catholic sympathies, but occasionally gone to church, das  did many “church papisths”. William keep up his links with starford, but his proffesional  life was in london, witing and acting.

B. Drama

            Drama is genre a literature which advance an also development because showing the theatre that human explain the movement in the stage. The shape of drama in london especially shakespeare’s show is round, usually almost two hours drama and no scenery to change.

1. History

·         Richard II (1595)

King Ricard is a history play by william shakespeare believe to have been written in approximately 1595.  This is action symbolic and symmetrial. Ricard weeps to stand upon his kingdom once again, but sits to hear sad stories of the death of kings; the sun rises, but ricard, whose symbol is the sun, falls.

·         Henry IV (1596)

History play by william shakespeare believe to have been written no later than 1597. Shakespeare took care with his foundation for the tetralogy.

·         Henry V ( 1599)

History play by william shakespeare, believe to have been written around 1599. It tells the story of king Henry V of England, focusing immedietly before and after the Bettle of Angincourt ( 1415).

2. Comedy

·         A  Midsurnrner night’s dream (1595)

It is comedy written by william shakespeare in 1595. It porttrays the events surrounding the merriage of the theseus, the duke of athens, to Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons.

·         Twelfth night (1601)

It is comedy by william shakespeare, believed to have been written around 1601 as a twelth night entertainmentfor the close of the christmas season. The play centres on the twin viola and sebastian, who are separated in a  shipwreck.

3. Tragedy

·         Hamlet (1599)

Hamlet is a tragedy written by shakespeare at an uncertain date between 1599 and 1602. Set in the kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatises the revenge prive Hamlet is called to wrak upon his uncle claudius, by the ghost of hamlet’s father, king hamlet. Claudius had murdered his own brother and sized the throne, also marrying his deceased brother’s widow.

·         King lear (1603)

It is tragedy written by william shakespeare. It depict the gradual descent into madness of the little charachter, after he disposes of his kingdom giving bequests  to two of his three daughters based on their flattery of him, bringing tragic consequences for all.

4. Romance

·         The tempest (1610)  

It is a play by william shakespeare, believe to have been written in 1610, and thought by many critics to be the last play that shakespeare wrote alone. It is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer prospero, right duke of milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skilful manipulation.
